It’s February 1st, meaning we are a month into the new year! Did you make any resolutions at the beginning of the year? A new year feels like a fresh start and an opportunity to do better this year. We often are highly motivated and determined to follow through with our resolutions, but often a couple of weeks in, that passion dies down and we go back to our old ways.
Are you determined to accomplish your goals for the year? Based upon my own experience and learning from amazing leaders, I would love to help you in this endeavor with a few thoughts!
“The secret to real happiness is progress.”– Tony Robbins
When we see change happening quickly, we are full of high energy and excitement. Nevertheless, I believe that we tend to be way too focused on the end result. So when change takes time, our passion tends to dwindle. Therefore, it is imperative to keep our eyes set not only on where we want to go, but also on the process of getting there. Celebrating our milestones on the way to our destination can keep us motivated and excited to move forward. Instead of feeling discouraged, we feel happy with the progress that we are making.
“Resolutions are cheap. Resilience is priceless.”– Steven Furtick
This is my personal take on this quote. Resolutions are not cheap per se, but they become meaningless when they are not made with a true intention to follow through. If you make a de·ci·sion (a determination arrived at after consideration, Merriam-Webster) to make a lasting change or pursue a project, you need to back it up with a level of resilience that is going to get your through the tough days. Quitting is not an option. Instead you are always finding solutions to accomplish your goal.
“Analyze, adjust and advance.”– Aida Glowik
Yes, I just did quote myself! lol. This is just to say that perhaps you set out to achieve a goal in a certain manner, but along the way you notice that it is not working. At this point, figure out how you can improve your strategy so that you are not stuck. Make the necessary adjustments and keep moving forward. Make sure that you are continually seeing progress. And be reslient!
Let me know what your goals are for 2019!
One of my goals is to create systems in my business so that I don’t get overwhelmed by all my to-dos!
